Default I hate _ot _riving my 996

I bought my 996 in October. Drove it 70 miles and parked it for the winter. Now spring has not sprung. Looks like July until the snow melts. No way there is global warming lol.

I hate not driving my 996!

I also have cabin fever. Been a long, long winter!

Rant off

I vroom vroom weekly. Usually by now, streets are mostly clean, snow is gone. Late winter this year and below seasonal temps.

I am in Toronto.

Same here in Wisconsin. I usually put it up in November right before the first salting of the roads occurs then sulk all winter long until the day comes I can awaken it from hibernation. I don’t store it at my house so I can’t even sit inside and breathe in that glorious aroma. Soon enough though .....

Got mine in October as well, but due to living in Northern California, been daily driving it since! I know it may be heresy around here, but I even drive it in the rain.

We still have at least a foot of snow on the ground and snowbanks 3 to 4 feet high! I think it will be mid April before I get my car out of my basement and across my lawn to reach the driveway...if I'm lucky! Then, I'll have to drive around the nasty potholes and frost heaves. WTF am I still doing here!?

I have had my C4 for almost 19 years now. I drive it year round, have a set of wheels with snow tires so unless the snow gets too deep before they plow the roads it is no problem. I was out of the car for about a month recently as during the polar vortex I was out of town and when I returned I had a leak in a clutch line union. I do my own work so I waited until about a week ago when it was in the 40's to find the problem. Order a used line from DC Auto for $50 plus shipping (Porsche wanted $290 for the superseded part number line and that would required other parts too). Was back on the road Sunday.

These are cars meant to be driven and I had never understood why people put them away for the winter? Yours may look better than mine for not being driven in the winter but to hell with that I bought the car to drive it. This is the 6th Porsche I have had, had one since 1973 except for a couple of years, and everyone of them was driven years round!

Look, the last owner of my car said it was never winter driven, right before offering me his set of winter tires. I plan on participating in the same lie when I go to sell.

I wouldnt hesitate to drive my car in the rain but whenever theres salt/brine on the road, i cant help but think what constant exposure to that stuff will do to the undercarriage. I'll keep the toys locked up until it cleans up in those situations.

I feel your pain. What do you daily?? I was in a Ford Expedition for almost 10 years until it needed replacing. Bought a JCW Mini Clubman and still get my daily chores done but now with a smile

Something to think about

If it makes you feel any better, I haven't owned a 911 in almost 4 years now (yet here I am still LOL).

I'll have another one at some point...
