Default Winter wheels for C4S

I know that I need 8x18 et50 front and 10x18 et47 for the rear. Does anyone know if the sport techno option for the Boxster would fit properly? The dealer's option is much more expensive. Are there any other options?

Thanks,

Jonathon

Actually you can use 17" wheels for snow tires; you just need the offsets for the wheels. I'm picking my offsets from my dealer tomorrow so I'll be able to post the exact mm that you need.

I'm then going to take my 17" wheels off my C4 and put the on my C4S and presto!

My 17" rims and Dunlop Winter M2 tires from tire rack where $1,700 balanced and delivered.

are you sure 17'' wheels will fit on a c4s? i thought you needed 18 wheels to clear the brake calipers.

please let us know your experience.

My dealer told me this and is mounting them for me. As soon as I get them installed, and no what the offsets are, I will post them.

The Sport Techno & Turbo Look II option for the Boxster is 8" - ET50 and 10" - ET47. So, yes those wheels would work just fine. However, make sure you are using a 265/35 rear tire.

I'd be interested to know if they'd fit as well. The owner's manual clearly specifies 17" or 18" for the Carrera 4, but ONLY 18" for the Carrera 4S.

I told him the same thing... however, he assured me that Porsche started putting on the 17" snow tires on the C4S but wasn't advertising it... I'll post the results tomorrow or Tuesday.

I would be greatly surprised if a 17" wheel fit on the C4S, I just can't see it without some monster spacer moving the wheel out from the brake caliper. I checked with a contact at Porsche on winter wheels for the C4S and he said 17's would not work, so let me know if in fact they do and I'll send him a correction.

I always thought 17s wouldn't work on the C4S, but I saw one the other day with what I swear were 993-style 17s. Frankly, it looked like **** because the wheels were so narrow relative to the body.

IMO, just get the 18s...they work very well in the snow for me.

I just use the regular OEM Turbo-style wheels for the winter. I've got some hollow-spokes off the Turbo for the track. Keeping it simple...

That may be the case, however, I already own the 17" wheels from my 01 C4.. would hate to drop another 2K.

Yes, that changes whings a bit. You could always sell the 17s to help pay for 18s

And I just had a thought...the folks at Wheel Enhancement can probably help answer your question.

IF THEY FIT the 17'' wheels would have the advantage of providing additional rubber for protection against winter potholes. to me this additional protection would outweigh looks any day. the question remains though--DO THEY FIT?

I'm still waiting to get my 01 C4 back from the dealer... regular maintenance. They told me the car would be ready on Tuesday, so I'll keep you posted as soon as I get the car back and can swap the wheels.

Well I think the question is whether or not 17" wheels fit an 02+ C4S, not an 01 C4 isn't it?
