Default Porsche Sports Muffler

Just picked up my first 996 C2 Cab from 2000 yesterday from Porsche in Bamberg in Germany.

I had the dealer to modify the sportsmuffler with a button inside the car so I could go to normal and sports mode. Well all that is working but in the beginning the dealer promised me that I could have the original mufflers with me, but when I picked up the car he told me that they where used "inside" the new mufflers and therefore gone .............

Is that right or is he just trying to keep the original mufflers for him self ??

Besides that the car is SUPER......pics comes later.

The Porsche sport mufflers replace the original ones. The dealer must have kept them.

Does that mean that the built in button in the cockpit just bypasses some part of the muffler or what ?

Yes. The dash switch operates a bypass valve built into the exhaust pipes.

Okay, thanks alot. Think I better give the dealer a call. What would the original mufflers be worth ?

Why, do you know a muffler system for the 996 which does?

A set of used original standard mufflers? Probably not much. But, the dealer could use them to replace damaged ones.
