RMS is a PIA. I changed mine last winter. Perfectly leak free all last season. After sitting for three months in garage, it decided to start leaking again, alas very minimal.

That's the number Auto Atlanta is listing. It will be on my shopping list...

That sucks. Hope it stays minimal. From what understand, it's not a huge deal if it stays light. Someone more qualified should be able to say for sure.

A couple of little tasks were completed tonight. I wrestled the other exhaust tip off and installed the new one. Looks real nice. Not sure if the sound has changed. Certainly won't be for the worse. Thanks again, to Ratchet1025. Beers are on me...

Crappy pic. I'll get better ones. Maybe the car will be clean for those...

Drilled a hole in the old oil cap and threaded-in a barb fitting. Should do the trick on the cranckcase vacuum test.

Scott, when your AOS failed was it making a screeching sound like a fan belt slipping? I think mine went out yesterday.

Bill - yes, the sound could be likened to a squealing fan belt. I thought of it more like a bearing with no lubrication. When I first heard it, I thought it might be one of the pulley bearings, the alternator or even the P/S pump. After replacing all but the P/S pump, and the sound returned, I feared the IMSB. With the help of Dr. Tech, I think we have diagnosed it as air being sucked past the RMS.

You will probably want to start by bypassing the AOS vent at the throttle body. Then keep your eyes open for an RMS leak.

Yup, those sounds and thoughts are familiar, thanks.

Good luck, Bill. Hope all works out.

I decided to stop moping about and took Speedy for a little romp.
About 6 or 7 laps of our backyard RallyCross course. I've decided I'll be keeping this car.

Once I turned the PMS off, it was a whole lot of fun.
Here's a part of our little track.

That looks like fun! I haven’t driven a rallycross course since the late 90’s - good clean fun.

Oh, and I think it is PSM (Porsche Stability Management). That other acronym has an entirely different meaning, and I don’t think you can turn it off...

I am aware of the correct acronym. I like PMS better. They're both fun governors.

Drove Speedy to work today. Made it there, then to an appointment, and then home. No major drama. I am still concerned that I may be losing coolant. If so, it's in small increments. Will avoid adding more until I can get a better handle on this. I've had many cars that will equalize at a level below the min-mark. No matter how much you try to convince it that it needs more, it makes the final call.

There's a bit of foamy crap in the oil fill neck. I think it's been there, not sure if it is now getting worse. Would have expected this to boil off by now. Maybe drives of greater than 45 minutes are needed.

Messed with the manometer just for the exercise. It only proves the meter works. Saw mostly 2.3 - 3.1 inH2O. I assume this should be taken at idle.

Hooked up the Durametric again to check a few things. Just like a fine wine, the cam deviation is improving with age.

Got the special Chinese catch can a couple of days ago. Installed it in the same location as the beer can. Found a simple zip-tie mount off the air pump. Need to work out the pipe fittings and hose routing. Will investigate a smaller hose diameter and a couple of can outlet options. Will figure on a drip tube down the back of the car near the lower bumper line. The other option might be to run the outlet hose into the airbox. As it is, the outlet is right in the engine compartment. Not ideal...

Found a mystery plug today. It was under the passenger side floor mat. Haven't located a matching hole. Name this part.

My understanding is it should be right around 5 inH2O....sounds like this may indeed be the issue.

Which issue would this be? The AOS is bypassed. Are my numbers indicative of an issue?

I didn't realize those readings were with AOS bypassed. Not sure how that effects things. My understanding from my readings here is that a healthy AOS (obviously hooked up stock), should read 5” H2O at idle.

I am no expert. My understanding is that a properly functioning AOS should give a reading of 5 inH2O, or less. Higher numbers would indicate a problem. My understanding may not be entirely correct.
