Long time admirer, first time owner...
After 11 years of owning BMW's I've taken the plunge (financially) and become a Porsche owner. Just wanted to say 'hey' to everyone and hopefully post some pictures. Since the weather here has been lousy and my driveway is under snow and ice, I haven't been able to drive my car in the last 8 days, so I've kept busy with a few minor 'mods'. I have replaced the orange side marker lights with clear markers (probably the best bang-for-the-buck appearance mod I can make) and this past weekend installed a carbon fiber shifter and handbrake. Still, it's a bummer not being able to drive and the weather report says more ice for tomorrow...

.
Anyway, just wanted to say hi and hopefully my pictures posted ok...

Here's a picture from today (the best I could get) showing the clear markers. These side light makers blend in very nicely with the Seal Grey exterior.
I did do the install of the shifter and handbrake assembly myself. It was a fairly straightforward procedure. I am not that mechanically inclined but if I can do it..... It took me around 1 hour and 45 mins. to complete. I used the B&M short shift instructions to remove the shifter **** and rear console and these instructions also give you an idea of how the cables are attached to the handbrake assembly. The shifter **** is easy to remove and install. The only hard spots for me in the handbrake install were getting the console out of the way enough ( I had to leave the wire to the storgage bin attached because I couldn't figure out how to unplug it), loosening the double nuts that adjust the cable tension, and getting the cables attached to the handbrake assembly. These weren't difficult, it just took some effort.
I would have taken some pics for a DIY but it was freezing this weekend and my hands were pretty numb by the end of the install.

Congrats on the new car. I'm waiting for my '04 C4S to arrive. I ordered the carbon fiber shifter and short shift from the factory. I'm curious to know how much of a difference it makes in terms of shifting feel. Also, I can see you have cold weather and snow - is the carbon fiber shifter too cold for the winter or does it warm up quickly? I'm asking because I sampled the shifter in warm weather at the dealer and loved the feel of the shifter. Thanks

I got the clear side markers from Suncoast (www.e-partssales.com) for 24.95 for the pair. The owner's manual tells you have to take them off the car (very easy).

Since I haven't had the opportunity to drive the car yet with my new shift ****, I can't tell you how the shifting action feels yet. As for the cold, it certainly retains the cold (along with the handbrake lever) but others have posted that it's no big thing!
