Default Ideal 18” wheel size

Can anyone please tell me what the ideal width and offsets are for 18” wheels so they sit flush with the fenders on a mk1 NB? Thx.

It’s an anniversary. They’re NB but have the WB front bumper.

The .2 GT3 sizes and offsets are perfect to my eye.
18x8.5 +40 front
18x11 +63 rear

Very similar to Fracture’s setup. But what are you looking for? How flush do you want the wheels? How much camber do you want to have? If what you want is the most functional setup, the .2 GT3 is the best template on the 996, in my opinion, be it .1 or .2.

My car has spacers that give the wheels the same effective offset in the rear and within 1mm in the front of the .2 GT3.

18x8 +35 front
18x10 +50 rear

Here are some more pictures to hopefully give a better idea of the fitment:

Just went through this same exercise.

The back at ET63 is exactly flush on an 11" rim and ET40 is perfect up front.

Although you can also achieve exactly flush by using wheel spacers if you can't get the exact ET you're after. Many don't recommend spacers and many do, I do. Just make sure they are good quality and you get bolts of the correct length and with a floating collar.

Also with the GT3 MK2 rims on a .1 you can use 5mm spacers at the rear on a .2 you can't.

I’m debating going from my 19s to 18s to get a more compliant ride. I’m also liking the look of bronze. I think it looks slick on black cars.

The F14 could work, although only the “semi concave” face is available in the correct fitment; the “deep concave” and “super deep concave” faces don’t have the right offsets to fit without more negative camber than is necessary.

Much appreciated, sir.

As others have mentioned, we have great 18" solutions for your 996 narrow body which were designed specifically for the Porsche platform. We have multiple fitments available depending on your goals for the car (how you plan to use it and what supporting modification may or may not be done), desired tire sizes, etc. Here is a link to our commercial thread here on RL for more info on the wheels: LINK

There are a lot of different wheel fitment options out there and enthusiasts have very different goals and priorities, therefore it is important to understand how you plan to use the car etc. Is your car a daily driver? Does it see any track time? If so, how often and is there a particular compound that you would like to run? Do you have any suspension modifications?

I would be happy to answer any questions that you may have.

996 NB Front Wheel Options:
18x8.5" ET50
18x8.5" ET42
18x9" ET46 (typically requires negative camber to prevent rubbing)

996 NB Rear Wheel Options:
18x11" ET60
18x12" ET65 (GT3 fitment & only advised if 315 tires are desired)

Here is a link to our Porsche flickr album:

Also, here are some photos of Dave's 996 track car (a fellow RL'er)
