Thanks for the info. I checked out your website and saw the suggested rear tire size is a 285/30 section. That’s what I have now only in 19”. I was hoping to go to an 18” wheel and a 40 section rear tire to soften the ride a little (street car only). I have the 030 suspension. Will this cause rubbing?

My only other issue is deciding between Antracite and Silver. I originally was looking at bronze (similar to the OZ Allegerita). I’m just concerned he Anthracite is too dark for a black car.

For a street driven 996 NB with factory alignment settings, we would advise running the following staggered fitment. Our lightweight 18" wheels will improve ride quality and performance while reducing tire costs coming from your current 19" wheels. With that said, a 285/40-18 is way too tall of a rear tire and will impact performance, gearing, electronic nannies and fitment. Overall rolling diameter is very important to keep in check, however, some cars are more sensitive than others. Many 996 NB Carrera owners run factory GT3 tire specs to improve the stance and grip/performance.

Suggested APEX SM-10 Wheel Specs
Front: 18x8.5" ET42
Rear: 18x11" ET60

Front Tire Options
225/40-18 - 25.1" tall
235/40-18 - 25.4" tall
245/35-18 - 24.8" tall
255/35-18 - 25" tall (Not advised for a street car without negative camber dialed in and best suited with our 9" front wheel option)

Rear Tire Options
275/35-18 - 25.6" tall (Not used often, but it does have the tallest sidewall amongst the tires listed. Would match best with 235/40-18 up front)
285/30-18 - 24.7" tall
295/30-18 - 25" tall
315/30-18 - 25.4" tall (Not typically suggested for a street car and often paired with our 12" rear wheel option)

In terms of wheel finish, it is certainly a personal preference. Black cars are quite easy to work with, as all three finish options work well. Here is a very nice black Cayman track/race car equipped with our 18" SM-10 wheels in Race Silver to show you that color combination. Silver provides more contrast, while Anthracite hides brake dust a bit better. It really comes down to the overall theme or vision that you have for your car

Thank you Ryan. I’ll message you through your website directly if I have any other questions. The SM-10’s look killer.

I’m bang on 25.25” front and rear heights with the 235/35/19 fronts and 285/30/19 rears right now.

285/30-19 is 25.7” and 235/35-19 is 25.5”, so 275/35-18 (25.6”) and 235/40-18 (25.4”) would be very close to what you currently have.

Agreed, I ran the 235/275 stagger for about 1.5 years. Great for street performance. 225/265 is NFG in my opinion for a car of this high performance level.

Ryan,
Really happy with the the way the SM-10s look on the car. Beautifully made wheels!

This.
I'm going with GT3 wheels, although I do like the deep lips on your RG5's. Nothing better looking than 9/8" Fuchs.
like your new look, but still think it need to drop a bit to get the look of the 997 you referenced earlier. 😎

I hear ya, but with LA roads and driveways I’m going to keep it as is. Lowering it will look cool but be a pain in the **** around town.

The back at ET63 is exactly flush on an 11" rim and ET40 is perfect up front.

Although you can also achieve exactly flush by using wheel spacers if you can't get the exact ET you're after. Many don't recommend spacers and many do, I do. Just make sure they are good quality and you get bolts of the correct length and with a floating collar.

Also with the GT3 MK2 rims on a .1 you can use 5mm spacers at the rear on a .2 you can't.

I use 5 mm spacer with my MK2 GT3 wheels on my .1NB but why would it not work on a .2NB? Is it not the same body/chassis?

I guess there are some differences in MK1 chassis vs MK2 - with the 5mm spacers the wheels stuck out of the fender by 5mm

You have about 10-12mm additional of clearance on that 11" et63 rear to play with. I'm running 19x11 et52 with no clearance issues at all and still feel I could push it another 5mm if I really wanted to. That's on a 315 rear. I'm not slammed but lowered 1" on a 996.2.

Good info, what are you running on the fronts with a 315 rear? Interested in the stagger...

Killer setup, Stu! The Anthracite wheels with the red brakes behind them really look good against the black paint. Some red seatbelts would really tie things in.

Glad that you are happy with the outcome, and we hope you enjoy how they perform as well. What tire sizes did you end up going with? 225/40-18 / 275/35-18?
