I was looking at the QuickJack but I did some calculations on lift height and it definitely won't raise a Carrera high enough to drop the engine and you *might* be able to get the transmission out, but not on a transmission jack of any type that I could find.

Now that Flat6 has done all of the work that I was going to have to pull the transmission for, I might look at getting one again--especially at that price.

Gotta decide in the next 2 days since the $100 off runs out on 12/11...

This is the whole reason I haven’t bought one. I want a low profile lift for my garage that can safely lift the car high enough to drop the power train.

Double the money, but more than twice the utility, the Danmar low rise portable lifts are amazing. I just upgraded my Maxjax to a Mx-6 with a black friday deal. Perfect for dropping the powertrain.

I kept my liftbars from my 928S 4, not knowing that they would exactly fit the 996! The car sits too low to slide the jack and bars underneath, so I first lift both rear wheels and place small blocks under the tires which enables me to then use the liftbars. Good news with the liftbars is that you can stand them in a corner of the garage as they take-up no space whatsoever and are highly effective tools.

I thought those were kind of pricey so I made my own. I'm no master welder by any stretch but I think it turned out okay. It was about $25 worth of steel from the bargain bin at the metal supply store.

What I want is that QuickJack type setup, but one where it is built into my garage floor, flush, and I can drive over it in place.

There's lots of things I want but I won't end up getting

Those esko jack stands are the best. I love the big feet. I haven’t used my old jack stands since I got them.

Nice fabrication!

I took the plunge and mine arrive on Friday too. Worst case if I end up getting a proper two post lift, I can probably sell this for 700 bucks or so after getting a couple of good years of use out of it.

I bought this a few months back and it's perfect for 986/996
It's not worth the time for wheel swaps though....I have 2 jacks to lift front n swap, then lift both rears n swap. Setting up the quickjack take a few minutes longer to do that.
It's very useful to swap axles which I did. Any suspension work and waterpump which I'll do nx year. coil/plugs will be so much easier also which I do every yr.
In my situation, can't get a lift due to height of garage so was a perfect fit.
