Mice Mice Mice! How do they get in?
2001 C2 Cab with hardtop. Stored in garage and driven almost daily. Where do mice keep getting into the cockpit from? Also in the vent system based on the thistle seeds that have blown out. I even have a cat that spends a lot of time in the garage. Just saw a mouse last night in the engine bay of my wife's Jeep Cherokee. I want to block off any openings they are prone to get in through with steel wool. Anyone figure out where all the openings are yet? Already had the soft top ruined by a pack rat 2 winters ago. They got into the folded up top while the hardtop was on. I blocked the entry under the side flaps with steel wool before putting the hardtop on this year. Hope this works. Still need to keep them out of the rest of the car.

You may want to get a few rat zappers to control the population (quite effective but make sure the cat doesn't go near them). Eliminate all food source and block any entrance point (both the garage and cabin) you can find. Check the microfilter to see if it's been compromised. A perfect place to nest.
Keep in mind a small house mouse can pass through a hole as small as the head of a pencil

Moth ***** or dryer sheets are other remedies I've read of.

Get these and put them around your garage.

load a few of these with stinky blue cheese or peanut butter. Leave the traps on the garage floor in the corners and close to the walls. The mice will smell them out and 'KAPOW'.

Back when I used to store mine in the winter(and dream about driving it for months and months) I used to put scented dryer sheets all over the interior and the exterior(engine bay, trunk, wheel wells, etc...) and never had an issue.

tomcat bait chunx and bait stations, place a few outside the garage and a some inside corners of garage, the bait will poison them and kill them off. the outside ones are to keep them from wanting to come into the garage.

I have a car in storage and have cought a mouse or two. They WILL do expensive damage, you can’t be timid about their eradication.
I use unscented glue traps spread around the storage area. Place them along the walls because mice will run along the wall rather than run across a space. I also place them on either side of each tire. Probability about a dozen glue traps in use altogether. A pest control specialist told me when using glue traps to use the unscented ones. He stated you don’t want to attract them with scented ones which is why I don’t use traditional traps with peanut butter or other bait.

I've had good luck with a product called Fresh Cab, it's a natural mouse repellent made from evergreens. It smells nice (Christamas, anyone?) and has not failed me yet. It comes in small pouches, I put two in the interior, two in the frunk and one in the engine bay.
