Ha, right? Single biggest surprise after buying a 996 has been the other 996 owners I've met thus far. Good peeps.... for the most part. And i was totally expecting exactly what Michael was writing about (well, the rich posers anyway), sometimes, it's great to be wrong.

that line about feeling every bend, dip and ripple in the road.. that is what I love about my 996. It feels like the car is talking to you thru the steering wheel.

Unfortunately the only other Porsche products I have driven are my 1983 and 1988 944s and a 2006 Cayman S and it just wasn't the same feel. I'm glad I bought my 996. Eventually I may own another 911 but I'm very happy with this one for the time being and well in to the future.

good find on that article.

hahaha..check the time of my post

From article:

“I’ve really never felt better since I started driving an air-cooled 911!” they’d say through a smug smile.
“Nothing on Earth is like an air-cooled 911,” they’d say.
“Aw man, you GOTTA try an air-cooled Porsche,” they’d bleat. “Have you tried juicing?” they’d add.

Ugh. Gross. The vegans of the car world.
This guy is pretty funny

I've posted this anecdote a few times: When I bought my car 3 years ago I thought for sure that I was going to take a lot of crap for having a 996. It turned out that couldn't have been further from the truth! Even at Porsche-specific events people have come up to chat about my 996 and have expressed interest in adding one to their garage while the prices are low. At general car shows, forget about it. Everybody loves a 911.
