Total guess, but maybe the lens difference you are noticing is because they are euro lenses/beam pattern, not DOT?
Edit: I understand that there is a difference between the lenses of US market turbo and non-turbo cars. I'm suggesting that perhaps the euro lenses on these cars (sold in Great Britain) are similar in appearance to the US turbo lenses on the outside. My understanding (perhaps incorrect) is that lenses for US domestic use have to have the DOT markings as well; that wouldn't be something you'd see on a euro version of the car.

But, well, in those photos it could be a reflection from the ceiling. I was just pointing it but it is difficult to see if it is really the silver one with that quality on the picture

I like the way they satin blacked out the wheels and mirrors, helps with silver 996’s and make them look a lot more modern.
Definitely blacking out the front grill on the 40AE this winter, really tempted to do the same to the mirrors now!
Also I know it’s the reflection of the light but if you saw that pic of the Turbo in a classified ad you would think the front end was painted in 3 different shops

Why?
I wonder what the guy will do with the 996.1? That works out to $65k in usd and now he's stuck. He can't drive it or it will become like every other 996 except it hasn't had its IMS bearing done. He should have bought a nice 996.2 GT3. He could drive/track it and still sell it for what he has in it when he's done.
I mean seriously, if the 996.1 were available as a new model now, would you buy one for $65k?

The faux centerlocks are very polarizing. If the car was anything other than a life-sized hotwheels, I would take it more seriously.
