This has been my goal for a looooong time, even before college. It's been a ton of fun! Got one more thing I'm trying to figure out where to fit. I got a 60" x 30" x 2.25" blanchard ground steel plate I'm planning on making into a fab table. Still need to throw it on a mill at work and drill/tap/chamfer fixture holes. Will be nice to indulge myself in most of my hobbies under one roof!

Check out Jack Olsen's 12 guage garage (http://12-gaugegarage.com) he gets top marks for fitting a lot of useful stuff into a small space.

I'd like to replicate Jack's garage.
I still need to do some cleaning out of unneeded items first though.
I've gotten rid of a lot of stuff, but more stuff keeps showing up.
I also have several boxes of parts just waiting for the customer to show up so I can install them on their car.
Weekend before last I had a customer no-show on me again.
I've had their brake pads and rotors setting in my garage waiting on them since April.

I like Jack's philosophy of having nothing on the floor...I just haven't quite gotten there yet.
One of these weekends I need to tell everyone, "I'm not doing any car repair this weekend, I'm cleaning out the garage."
But the last couple of times that I did that, my wife distracted me and nothing got done in the garage.

This is the Danmar M6; it's a different lift than the MaxJax. I believe Danmar owns Maxjax tho?

If you like jack's site, you should definitely check out GarageJournal.com. It's a forum specific for garage's and shops. You can learn a ton there!

Buuuut no one pays MSRP for a box. I bought mines at the Music Metal Franchise trade show. $4k rebate + 25% off. Brought everything down to roughly $19.5k for the 84" roll rab, SS power top, work center top, and right hand power locker. If you ever drive head up my way and are in town, send me a PM and stop by!
Well done on the deal. Hope to see the setup in person someday.

Yeah, I've spent a lot of hours there looking at garages.
One of my favorites is BB767's 1930's Johnson's Welding and Auto Repair Shop.

Yes, MaxJax is a Danmar product. From the images they look more or less identical, but I'm sure there are differences that lead to a separate product line.

Yes. Each post is bolted down with 5 bolts (into Wej-It anchors). The posts have wheels on them. You tilt them up onto the wheels and move them out of the way.

I could be wrong, but I think the MaxJax is the original version I had. It isn’t ALI certified and doesn’t have an automatic locking mechanism.

Congratulations. Nicely done. Once you go with an actual lift you won't know why you waited so long. We are fortunate to have a lot of variety to choose from.

Mine is in a nine foot ceiling with a 22 by 23 foot floor.

There are lots of 4100 lumen 5000K 2 bulb by four feet fixtures on the web (about $25 each) to bring daylight into your work space.

Just measured. With the jack sitting on the highest safety pins, it measures 44" between oil drain plug and the floor. Distance between outside base edge to outside base edge is 125".

I have a drive on lift in my single garage.

I park my Jeep Wrangler under my 996.

Nice setup. I too agree that a lift is the only way to go if you can swing it.
