i have a 2002 cab. I love the car not only because its so much fun to drive, but its still trouble free with 81,000 miles. The various imterior rattles ( i’m nutty about that stuff) i live with, but quality of the interior paint on the plastic parts i can not. I have painted the center console but it just did not hold up to my liking. I have seen people have bumperplugs paint the console which looks great, but i am not sure how it hold up plus $650 is ridiculously expensive....Has anyone attempted to vinyl wrap the console & if so please let me know the results. Any other ideas are welcome...Thanks....
Bought my 996 used and the center console was fairly rough. When traveling through LA on way to Rennsport, I had an automotive interior restoration guy take it out and respray it in matched original color (space grey) when reconditioning the seats and it looks brand new. He said the work is super easy. Getting it done is worth the effort!

Howdy, I just met a fellow RLer from Cincinnati (met at an HPDE at Mid-Ohio). He wrapped his console in carbon fiber film and I was very impressed at how it turned out. He is active here and might chime in.
I wrapped mine, it came out I say 8 out of 10, not bad for first time. Im keeping it for a bit to see how it holds up, if it does well I will redo it again.
I painted mine myself using Tamiya primer and paint out of a can. I love the way it looks and it seems to be holding up fine.
I could have put a real nice coat of clear, but I liked the way it looked without the extra pop.
To each his own.
00+ had the coating that peeled over time and made it look crappy
buy a 98/99 console. Just plain plastic nothing to peel. If you want it painted, take it to a shop and have it profesionally painted.
Montgo county has decent paint shops
