Crank noise when closing sunroof
Hello everybody
I am wondering if someone here has experienced the same problem
The sunroof on my C4S works well. It tilts, and it slides opening and closing well. The only problem is, than it finish the slide to close, after being oppened, it sound a strong "CLANK" on the roof, like metal noise. All the guides and springs look well and greasy. The noise comes from the back of the sunroof
Any clue about what can be the problem?

I seem to remember reading somewhere that there is a flat piece of felt along the back side of the sunroof opening. Open the sunroof and look carefully at the back of the opening. Other than that, I've got nothing. Maybe post a sound clip of the clank?

Personally, I wouldn't sweat it. Just keep a close eye (and ear) on it. I've had many cars with sunroofs and they all make unique sounds when opening and closing. Most of the problems occur with poor lubrication and dry rotted weather seals that end of leaking water into the car's interior. Currently, my 996's sunroof doesn't make a loud clank when it closes, but does make noises as any mechanical device would when it's going through set of mechanical steps. .

Many thanks to both for the quick answers.
I have read old posts and I have confirmed that the plastic leap on the back piece is there (what seems to be a common problem loosing it). Actually the soonroof slides smoothly and without any noise, but it is when it comes from open to close, and it reach the final position, that something seems to hit hard, just behind the sunroof against the metal body of the roof.
I will try to upload a video

Can't comment on the sunroof (yet) but my passenger window does make a horrific noise when it tops out. Sounds like the glass is going to break.

That's more than likely the window regulator. Make sure you replace it with a OEM, aftermarket regulators are known to be trash.
