Default VIDEO - Help identifying squeak/rattle

I’ve been trying to locate a squeak for two years now. It sounds like it’s coming from behind the dash, but I’ve tried everything. The windshield rope, ice wax on the rubber, tightening things, adjusting the door strike...I even had the dash out at one point (for a different reason).

Listen to the squeaking in the attached video. It sounds like an airport shuttle.

Thanks for any clues!!

Listened to it...that is a almost metal to metal sound. Since it seems to originate on the passenger side, why not get a passenger and have them listen to determine where it is coming from. Could also have them hold certain areas around and under the dash and see if the noise stops.

Here is a good thread with some great pictures that show what is behind the dashboard. https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...oval-help.html

It sounds like crickets.

Passengers agree on two things:
1. The sound exists
2. It’s coming from in front

i can’t replicate the sound by anything other than driving. Opening the door while driving doesn’t impact the noise, so I know it’s not door related, too.
