Every once in awhile, my driver window does not go down when I acticate the pw switch. I have always gotten it to go by cycling the switch from up to down to up to down. Is the sticking in the upper weatherstripping? Or is it something more serious. Where do I start looking?
Probably the motor has a dead spot on it. You can test the switch easily by pulling the 2 switches out and swapping them. Leave it that way and if the problem moves to the other door, the switch is bad.
If you listen closely, you can hear the motor (and see a voltage drop on your voltage gauge) when you click the switch. If you can hear the motor and see the voltage drop, then something is locking up the motor. If you cannot hear the motor or see any voltage drop, then the motor is likely sudfering from a dead spot.
If the problem remains, I would buy a new window regulator assembly, or send yours in to have it refurbished (there’s a shop in Phoenix, AZ that does several Porsche regulators per week). It’s sometimes cheaper to have the regulator rebuilt with arguably newer, stronger, parts.
