Not sure that I care for the different feel of the car now, but it’s only been about 500 miles.
That's awesome thanks!

yeah it's not that hard, he's doing a lot of conversions in that video to get degrees etc. but if you know the correct dims already (I work in mm, and found some good settings to follow) then it's quite simple really. I ended up lifting and adjusting then checking multiple times to get it as close as I could. watch some YouTube and it becomes clear.

Stuck a bike on the 996 and went riding on some nice gravel roads around Middleburg, VA, outside of DC. I had a funny thing happen...Middleburg is a very affluent area with a bunch of horse money, wineries, breweries, good roads and has even hosted Mille Miglia. This means that it's not uncommon to see Ferraris, McLarens, Lambos, GT cars and other super cars. As I was pulling away, I had a young kid, about 16, run over to me with big eyes and a smile and his phone out to take shots of my car. First thing out of his mouth was "the 996 is so underrated! I love them so much!" I let him hop in the driver's seat and chatted for a quick minute. Very cool interaction and maybe there is hope for our youth after all! Looked like a future 996 owner in the making

When I was a kid, my friends and I would play, "That's my car!" and race to claim every cool car that we'd see passing by.

You are now the owner of a cool car.

Getting a kid to say that your car is cool is worth 100 thumbs-up from middled aged dudes at stoplights.

Absolutely! I was more so impressed with the fact that there are young kids that have a growing interest and appreciation for cars that are older than they are. It's something they might not have been to exposed much. Turn on YouTube and most people are posting stories of collecting their new GT3RS or Huracan - that's their point of reference these days. Hopefully these kids will also become interested in how the whole damn thing works and look to be an apprentice at a shop. Those mechanics are a dying breed and it's good money!

That looks good, I'd love to do something like that also. How would you rate the install on 1-10

Clearly that kid isn’t reading enough internet.

I had a similar thing happen at a PCA event, it was an outdoors get together with live band and a casual “people’s choice” concours (no formal judging). A mom and her kids went crazy over my 996, the kids said they were going to vote for it when there were probably 150 other Porsches. Many others came up and asked about the car, they talked about more as classic/vintage-ish car. We go to a lot of PCA events and have never heard a negative word about 996.

Finally adding the Hartech x Slakker racing sump. Didn’t get the install instructions sooo I figured it was a plug n play install and noticed a clearance issue. Called Brandon and he told me exactly what needed to be done. Customer support is superb.

All that’s left is to trim the oil return tubes(I have the old style) and reinstall the pan.

So if you don’t trim, you’ll make contact here.

I have the older type of oil drain tubes.

The newer ones look like this:

I’m not exactly sure if the trimming process is specific to .1 or .2 cars but the only thing I know is different is the drain tubes as the newer version is probably a 997 M96 upgrade.

Why not keep the X51 style baffle?

The Hartech uses the OEM baffle, not sure why.

Yup - those are the M97 drain tubes used on 997 cars. I installed the same ones with my UIDS.

My leather umbrella holster arrived from the UK.

Ordered from here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/275657350988

Delivery took 2 weeks. High quality leather and great craftsmanship. I highly recommend.
