Is a used Valentine One OK to buy?
What's up with buying a used V1? Are there older versions that don't work as well as a brand new one?

Get the serial number of the old V1 and than go to the V1 web site, it will tell you what the cost would be to get the latest technology. Other than size of V1, I don't think technology has changed much in last two years.

Yes, they have different versions of software. You can put the serial # into the V1 site and it will tell ya what software it has. Then as mo said, you can find out the cost of the upgrade.

I was actually thinking of getting a 2nd one so I could leave it in my Boxster (when it arrives) so I wouldn't have to move it from car to car.

Changed thickness. Maybe "size" that I stated is misleading. I don't know exactly, but think in ~2000, the newer V1's are about 3/8" thinner with same width and length as the older V1's. Hope that helps clarify.

Make sure it's not "hot" as if it is a stolen unit I don't think they will upgrade it. If it is legit, they have a very good upgrade system. I bought one several years ago and have had it "upgraded" which amounts to getting a brand new unit for a discounted price. Love the V1, couldn't drive with out it!!

I understand that the radar technology is basically the same on the current units as on the older models but that the laser technology may be upgraded.
