Default My new bike rack....superb

The first 996 out the door at GuruRack. I was not crazy about the roof rack and ran into a 718 customer of Oliver's at a cycling club event. I called Oliver and he was working on a 996 specific kit so I became the guinea pig. Great value for the workmanship.
Oliver had me drive to his shop twice so he could tweak his kit to perfection. Great design; especially the work that went into the sliding license plate holder. With the recommended Kuat Beta rack the system is rattle free and solid.
Thanks to GuruRack. Now carrying my bicycle is simple and no roof rack to spoil the car.

That sliding license plate is slick! Good antidote for any over keen law enforcement types. How does this all attach? Got pics form underneath?

I have a cab, so this is ideal. Please post up when production starts!

Oliver is ready to go and builds to order. It was just over a week for my order to be ready for install. Pricing was $600 in kit form and $750 installed. When you consider the Porsche roof rack cost is similar this is a simple choice in my opinion.
The hitch receiver is strong and bolted through the aluminum bumper. Oliver said "bicycles only" and it is a way strong for this use.

Oliver recommended the Kuat Beta rack as it is strong but only about 15 pounds. So easy to put on and take off.

Sorry, but I love using my Seasucker. Have traveled a ton with it with my bike traveling well over 80mph with no issues. Spent around $250 if I recall.

I like it! I too have the Seasucker system, and like it. But this is a well executed alternative.

I considered the well liked sea sucker but my head kept going back to my radar detector and gps suction mounts occasionally falling off the windshield on hot days. Seemed this never happens with the sea sucker but still made me too nervous to use one.

I think both the seasucker and hitch mount have their place. I use a similar hitch set up for my bike rack, as I'm not comfortable putting a bike on the roof due to the chance of accidentally running it into a garage or low overhang. That said, I use a seasucker for skis and find it an excellent solution.

Well said Gbug. Everyone has different needs. If you want or need a hitch type rack then Oliver has designed an excellent product. Just letting the 996 folks know there is a nice option out there.

Thanks Endovirvana for showing up for a club bicycle ride with your hitch rack just as I was looking for a factory roof rack. Oliver's work beat's the heck out of the factory roof rack. It would not be possible for me to be more pleased with this bike carrier option.

Thanks for sharing this. It's on my list now.

The 1UP rack is a bit cleaner looking. I've had one for years and love it.

Very cool. I've always thought SeaSucker suction mounts on the roof/window would be the best option, this one looks great.
