Default new spin on cupholder idea

on the '99s there is no cupholder, just that space between the center air vents and the a/c headunit display. but on the more recent models that space is where the cupholder resides. has anyone tried to fit a newer cupholder into that space? or are there fitment issues

penquin,

My '99 C4 Cab has cupholders. They are the folding kind that attach to vents next to windows on both sides of car.

Regards

It's funny, my 01 C4 came with the cup holders on top. I had the car 2 weeks and ripped them out. I moved the climate controls on top where the cup holders were, over the radio, and bought the small tray and frame for the bottom... sooooooo much better. The Porsche cup holders are useless.

The cup holders that pivot out that came out in 2002 will not work on the older cars. This question gets asked all the time.

My car has two cupholders, but she doesn't always ride with me!

Quit drinking and start smoking! Seriously, there's a cupholder out there called (I think) "Ultimate Cupholder" that works quite well and is relatively unobtrusive. Search for it on the web and you'll find it. I have one on my 996 and another on a BMW.

www.ultimatecupholders.com

The "comparisons" page is also useful, and also humorous at times.

I'm also a satisfied user.

I, too, am a highly satisfied Ultimate Cupholder user. It's a very simple design, inexpensive to buy, and takes a nanosecond to "install." And it holds my travel mug snugly even when I'm going fast around corners.

Not to bring up a dead topic, but I saw these two cupholders for sale. I know the consensus is that the ultimate cupholder is the best (the guy lives only 15 minutes away from where I live.) Got two of the "ultimate cupholders" today. My friend just bought a new boxster and he loves them. But I never saw any reviews on these two (following) cupholders. They look pretty cool and convenient. Any comments?

Or just stick the toe of an old sneaker under your seat and stick your drink in the heel that sticks out. On track days you can lace it up a little snugger.

Redcab.... GREAT idea! I'm going to try it. Maybe I should use my basketball shoes, the higher ankle area should hold the drink better.

I went with the BIRD armrest/cupholder. The armrest is really nice when highway cruising.

Rob, I did the same thing. I think I have used the cup holder once in a year, but I like the arm rest a lot.
