Default Air Bag Badge

Hi all. Any one know how to remove/install the steering wheel air bag badge (01 C4)? I want to replace the silver badge with a full color gold one.

Thanks,

Lang G

I have a 997 gold/colored airbag badge from a 997 that was totaled. I believe there is a stud behind it and wouldn't be surprised if the same is true for 996. I could sell it and/or trade with you if you need it.

I am interested if it is the one with red and black enameling.
However, if it is riveted on, how do I get it off without scrapping the air bag cover? Is the cover separate from the airbag?

That doesn't seem like a great thing to have launched toward your face with the explosive power of an airbag! The factory must have done some interesting engineering and testing to get that right.

I hadn't thought of that...I think this is a really good point that you should heed. I would not glue the badge on either so my badge is not for sale.

I retract my comment and suggestion. I have never had the steering wheel air bag cover off, or the emblem, so my "guess" was only based on what others have said about them falling off. I apologize for the misinformation. Makes sense it would be fastened is such a way that it would not become a separate projectile if the air bag went off.

In that case-
Can the "horn cover" be separated from the air bag and replaced without replacing the entire air bag assembly?
