Default Need 10A power source

Looking at the Porsche wiring diagrams, I see 7.5A and 15A but no 10A anywhere.

I need to find a 10A power source that is hot in run or accessory. I assume I'll just have to add a 10 A fuse somewhere.

Suggestions?

Could I use one of the empty slots, such as for the cabriolet top or cabriolet rear windows and put a 10 map fuse there and use that?

Why not use the phone prep plug in the center console? It has brown ground, yellow phone interrupt, and the other are switched and unstitched 12v. Fuse E6 is 10A I think.
pull (literally yank it out) one of your cubbies or the CD/tape storage out and search for the 4 position plug floating around back there.

maybe with a relay?

Diagrams say it is 7.5 Amps.

oh well. I will do a test and see if that is enough. Worst case scenario I just have to get another fuse.

Works! 7.5 is enough!

I LOVE how every possible mod has been done to this car! Solutions everywhere! No more being a guinea pig.

Thank you fpb111!

Just be sure to carry a spare. That fuse is infamous for blowing resulting in “Help, I can’t refuel my car”. It also controls the fuel tank vent valve. So don’t load it up when you are refueling. I run a couple of gadgets from mine but not at the same time.

Interesting.

Using a relay then would help?

Sure it can. I have never had mine blow, but?? I would/am using mine with a few things hooked to it, (BTW there is a Becker mating plug with a long harness.) If mine starts blowing I will go to a relay. I have used that plug with both of my 996 and never blew that fuse. Other folks have nothing hooked to it and have problems with the vent valve fuse. YMMV

Are you running your clothes iron on it?

I wil be running LED illumination lights in the cabin. 6 - 8 lights. I think it should be just fine.

As for my heat - still sucks. I am now convinced that it is the foam and the holes on the blend door are open. I have changed the heater core out myself, had the dealer do the thermostat, which was crusted up, and will do the blend door hopefully next week.

Didn't read the whole thread carefully - sorry if this is a dupe.

Use the switched phone connector in the console to drive a relay; run a new positive line from the battery terminal to the location of your new device. Be sure to add an inline fuse as close to the battery as possible to safeguard against any short circuit.

Hi we are a new vendor on Renn list and we do lithium batteries.... So I just wanted to add some input being that whenever you do accessories like these sometimes you might be creating another level of parasitic draw on your system. So I would just recommend double checking that that is a circuit that only goes on when the key is turned on or else you have the potential of accidentally leaving your LEDs on you can end up draining your battery really fast.... And being there are so many threads on Rennlist about persons cars having high parasitic draw's that drain their batteries really quickly you might want to look out for that.

I'm actually very keyed into the subject because we make lithium ion starter batteries for Porsches so if you have these types of parasitic drain's that are most often caused by aftermarket accessories it can drain the batteries in the cars really quickly.

4th row down- far right is a blank that you can add a line. It controlled by ignition switch. If same as GT3

Green/black wire = switched. Red/green = un-switched.
