AC Vents spitting boken foam
Any 996 owners ? I got a 1999 996 convertible, recently purchased & when I turn on the climate control to blow out of the dashboard vents, there are small pieces of black sticky foam.... I'd think any insulating foam would be on the outside of the vent tubes not on the inside where 20 year old crusty degraded foam would break off & spit at the occupants.... Anyone have this ? do I need to take my dash apart & replace the vent tubes or something ?
Many thanks.. NOOB 911 owner....

Aren't the negative side affects once it all comes out?? Less insulation of the system? Heat not working as well? etc.

If you patiently read through the thread you will see the flap doors should be a solid, to block air when in the proper position.
The flap doors are made of metal with large holes to reduce weight, and they are covered with foam to seal off the holes.
When the foam comes off the doors air movement will travel where it should not travel. Read the thread and look
