Default PSE question

My c4s has PSE on it and on idle and rev in neutral it sounds great. off the line it also sounds great. but when I'm on a spirited drive sometimes in the higher RPM range it almost goes silent... is this normal? Does the Fister D muffler set up sound similar to PSE? I'm debating on swapping out if the fister is a little louder and more aggressive in the higher RPM range.

the stock PSE has a preset decibel cutoff between 30 ish and 50ish MPH (not sure of the exact MPH) due to some lame euro sound restrictions
there is a hack where you cut the lead to a diode to eliminate the signal from the speedo so the PSE doesn't cut-off
Try doing a search for "PSE hack"
that may be the cause of the quiet PSE you are experiencing
I did the hack, took about 15 min, now i'm totally loving the glorious PSE music

Sweet! will this hack eliminate the function of the PSE button in the cabin that eliminates the noise all together? i do like that feature and use it when im pulling the car into the garage late at night and don't want to wake the kids ( i own a restaurant and have many late nights!)

No, that’s not the correct hack
it involves removing a relay from the drivers side footwell, opening it up and clipping one of the diode sides
and yes, the switch still works to make it quiet when you want it tot be quiet

Does it affect the switch light itself and it's ability to illuminate properly?

No, everything works as it should, except the PSE does not get the signal from the speedo to go quiet between 30 to 50ish

i'm not the most adept at this newfangled computational device
here is the path to follow to find the link

use the search box and type in "PSE DIODE"
then go down to the thread titled "modifying my pse so it doesn't shut off at low speed" (or just do the search for that title)
the link is in post #8

Prefer to have the cutoff at highway speed, car is loud enough with tire noise, etc.

Is this possible on a 997.1? Does it differ from the 996 instructions?

Can someone post a link to a pictorial thread? Everything I pull up has no picture or they are off line and blank. Don’t want to start cutting wires unless I’m absolutely sure it’s the right one!

from what i've read, the 997 cutout is done by the DME, there is no analog relay to bypass
