Default Keys stopped "talking" to alarm

So today both my keys stopped communicating with the alarm system. Both keys have new batteries and the car is on a tender. Both keys lights flash repeatedly and quickly when pressing the fob. I can see the red light on the dash flashing & the battery is fully charged. Any ideas?

Gets even better. When I replaced my driver side lock mechanism a couple weeks ago I forgot to attach the key hole latch rod to the mechanism. I thought, no big deal I'll get to it next weekend, now that my mechanism is working again I can unlock the car with the fob. So now putting the key in the lock it just turns.....face palm!

Had AAA come out and in 5 mins he slim jimmed the pass side door open. Alarm went off and I put the key in the ignition to kill the alarm. Now the fobs are working again. I hadn't driven the car since Sunday. I guess the system goes into a sleep/lockdown mode after a few days. I had no idea. Why would Porsche even do this?

Time to pull that door panel off right now and reconnect the rod. Lesson learned.....

The car stops listening for the remote transmitter after 5 days in order to conserve power. When locked, it goes to sleep after 5 days and you have to use the manual key to enter the car.
