HELP! 04 994 won't allow fuel fill
Help! My 996 as of today will not accept fuel. The tank was 1/2 full and when I went to fill it up it will not allow fuel into the tank. Prior to taking it for fuel it had not been driven for several weeks and the battery was too low to start the car. Put a charger on- after a while tried to start - not enough juice left and
I got a lot off flashing dashing lights but nothing else. After a while I tried again successfully and left to get fuel. Called the dealer and they suggested checking fuse E6 which is ok. Any ideas?

Until you get it resolved you may be able to get the car to take fuel slowly by rotating the filler nozzle. Sounds stupid, but it worked for me.

Did a search and found lots of good information. Sounds like either crimped line or a faulty fuel valve. Now that I think about it the car has been finicky about filling since I got it. When you get it about 3/4 full in would shut down the pump. I would "burp" the car by rocking it a little and that seemed to work.
I'm thinking now it might be the fuel valve going bad - does that sound right to you guys? IE should I just order the part before I take it apart? Thanks!

Wouldn't that lean more toward “Will not start after refueling?”
There is a flap/valve in the fuel filler neck that is to prevent fuel spill when you flip the car over, probably there for emissions reasons too.
Anyway if it does not open no fuel fill. There is a TSB about that valve getting fouled in the internal fuel lines.
I think Pelican has a DIY about it. There are also DIY threads around here on it.
Basically you open the tank, pull up the fuel pump assy and tie wrap the offending fuel lines.
