Stupid Brake Light Switch Question - Lights on all the time even with new switch
OK - this is probably the height of stupidity, but I can't suffer the agonies of troubleshooting under the dash in a 30 degree garage for yet another couple of hours!
Putting in a new brake light switch. When I plug it into the adapter under the dash, but do not install it into it's mount by the pedal, the brake lights are on constantly. If I depress the plunger by hand, the lights go off. This seems counter-intuitive.
- Is the "default" position of the plunger depressed when the brake pedal is at rest? And therefore when you depress the pedal the plunger extends and closes the circuit to send voltage to the lights? Am I missing something or was it just too cold in the garage to make sense of this..mm
