Default ABS & PSM warning light

I've just started to get ABS & PSM warning lights come on under hard acceleration. Searching this forum, it looks like it may be due to a faulty brake switch or MAF connection. Since it happens consistently under the same conditions & always resets when re-starting, I don't think it'll be an intermittent brake switch, but I can't figure out what the MAF sensor has got to do with the ABS. Anyone got any info ?
I'll try checking the MAF connections tonight to see if it helps. What's the knack to removing the MAF sensor connector ? Car's a '99 C4.
Thanks in advance for any tips & help.

Thanks for the reply.
The problem was there with my old tyres and with the new tyres (P Zeros) that I've just had fitted. It has been suggested the problem may be a wheel sensor ?

Thanks Carlos.

Regards,

Will

My car has warranty cover but they will not pay for diagnostic work.

I had the same problem at the track last weekend, and found out it was because I replaced my brake pads, and the new pads increased the brake fluid level and it was faultling the sensor. I simply let out some fluid and the problem was solved.

The brakes have just been serviced and the fluid level is OK. The current suggestion is that a wheel sensor for the PSM/ABS systems is at fault. I've been told that they are difficult to test for faults and I may have to have all the sensors replaced. I'm trying to contact 2 owners who reported the same problem on other forums but don't yet know how their cars were fixed.

Thanks,

Will

Anyone know the part# to the ABS sensor?

I have replaced the brake light switch and MAF only has 30K miles on it. My PSM and ABS light still lights up under hard acceleration.

My '03 targa had the same problem last summer. It was the rear brake light switch causing an intermittent brake light failure which causes the ABS fail light, which in turn causes the PSM fail. New switch was about $15. Good luck.

It needs to be diagnosed try in Indy shop near you. I use durametric scanner and shows that I have a bad speed wheel sensor causing the idiot lights both psm/abs.

+1 on Mothers comment.
mine is due to a decayed clock spring air bag contact in the steering wheel. Can be diagnoses with duramatic.
other faults include corroded wires from one wheel to the fire wall as well as those mentioned.
bothersome so i am having it fixed next week.
along with the airbag failure light (in red) which is caused by corroded seat belt recepticles and wiring harnesses. you dont want to know what that costs!

My lights come on periodically and the scanner shows the same thing on my car. Haven't changed it yet because it's only happened 3-4 times the past couple of years.

Mine seems to flicker on and off when driven, however just annoying to me and to lazy to change. I removed the sensor and cleaned with break cleaner and also cleaned the connector with electrical cleaner with no change. I was worth a shot.
