Default Steering Rack Pinion Cap

Just wondering if anybody knows how to remove this black cap from the old rack. My new rack did not come with it. Also, what is the purpose of that metal pin and hole under it. Is this for rack centring purposes? Thanks.

Steering angle sensor? Any electric wires hooked to it?

Pull the aluminum "pin" and slide it off. Does not look like the angle sensor.

Thanks for chiming in. No wires or sensors. The purpose of that pin, I learned today by talking to Porsche tech here at the dealer, is for centring the rack at the factory. As soon as you drive off and turn the wheel, the pin breaks and the other half of the pin simply remains in the rack body. Purpose of the cap is just to keep the crap out of the top of the pinion shaft. It's hard to remove it without damaging it because it's pressed in and it's just cheap plastic. I managed to get mine off with a three prong puller without damaging it too much, so I'll be able to reuse it on the new rack.
