As to the houses deteriorating, I had extensive intermix, coolant like pudding, oil like a chocolate shake. Not sure how long it went before I discovered it. I tried changing the oil and coolant to see if it went away ( this was before many were fixing these problems) and it was obviously still intermixing. I parked it 9/2008 and did not take it apart until 4/2009. About 90% of the hoses are still in the car, never replaced. I have replaced one or two over the years since then.

Of course when my cracked head/intermix happened everyone said the engine was toast and had to be replaced (48,000 mile). This included the dealer, my indy and Jake. Nobody even talked about the houses back then. Fixed it myself and the car turned 93,000 miles today.

What can I say!
My 99 911 has intermix only in the coolant. My dipstick shows little oil in it. Car started overheating and I turned it off immediately and had it towed home. When I restarted it before seeing the intermix, had high oil pressure and no check engine light and idled fine (for a minute only) Plan to have the complete coolant system flushed and maybe do compression test on all cylinders to see if they hold compression. Any other things I might want to have checked?

If it is a cracked head chances are that compression will be good. Leak down test might pick it up.
