Default 996 failed its MOT

Hey so not great news today as the 996 failed it’s MOT...one of the problems is the offside front (Drivers side RHD) shock is pi33ing oil out, so it’s shot.
With my budget I can go with Bilstein B4’s or B6’s, do I need new springs with B6’s??
Are the B6’s any better for fast road usage. Crap bumpy, potholes laced uk roads...

Are the B4’s firmer than the Porsche Bilsteins which are double the price per shock??

All thoughts and advice welcome...

For the North American Audience MOT is a UK "Ministry of Transportation" annual test (oh yes every year) to ensure a vehicle is roadworthy. Sorry, nothing else to add.

The Bilstein B4 is equivalent to the OE shocks. You can use the Bilstein B6 with stock springs. A little different valving, maybe a little stiffer, but they will work fine. Point is, new shocks will transform your car and make it ride better, more responsive. On my 99 C2, the passenger side shock did the same thing. Replaced with Bilstein B6 and stock springs on both sides. Very happy with the ride.
