Default 996 C4 performed well at COTA this weekend.

Took my 2001 C4 Cab to Circuit of the Americas this weekend for Schnellfest and my first DE. The car ran very well and I turned in some sub 3 minute laps which I didn't think were possible (for me) in a mostly stock 3.4 AWD and street tires. Never understood why everyone leans toward tracking a C2 vs a C4. Well I get it now. Still have some things to sort out with the racing line- decide whether I should downshift while braking into turn 7 or wait until turn 8, figure out how to negotiate 13-14 complex in a car that pushes so much (ended up using alot of throttle steer to rotate the car), and trust my brakes going into 12 as I almost always over slowed and coasted a bit there.

Here is a decent lap for me. Sunday's morning session.

I'm hooked and I am proud of my car.

D.

http://www.fiberwerks.com/996_front_bumpers.htm I have this one. Going to be refinishing it and have it painted soon. PO accumulated about 37,000 rock chips and the original paint job wasn't that great. It does have a nice look though.

That is an awesome track!

You should try to head out to Harris Hill as well, they have 2h private instructions for $240. Great deal I think.
Shorter, less straights and pretty bumpy. But cheap and accessible, the guys running the place are super nice.

What tires are you running now?
If you ever need new tires, try something like Venus RS4 (street tires). It will blow your mind how much faster they are.

I have Hankook Ventus EVO 2's. Very happy with them. And making it down to Harris Hill is definitely on the list. Have talked to a bunch of people that have told me the same thing.

Nice- CoTA is a blast. If you see the below at a track event- give me a shout. I mainly hang around MSRC now that TWS is a parking lot.

I manage to hit NCM and Barber a couple times a year in addition to the Texas fun!

Yes, http://a.co/b2QZwNs on Amazon for 10 bucks. Bought two of them and they work like a champ. Then downloaded trackaddict app on my phone. Once I had all the data and the video, I merged it together with racerender to make the videos. $10 for the bluetooth ODBII, free app, free racerender program that was so good I went ahead and paid 39 bucks for the full version. So for less than $50, coupled with my gopro I put all that together. Going to make some more with some full sessions next. Just wanted to get a video of one lap out for proof of concept.

Next you'll be shopping for a track car, it's a disease......but one I don't mind having.

He was awesome. Patient and supportive. He was able to turn loose of the reigns a little bit and allow me to develop me further than I thought I would. I highly recommend a DE to anyone that has one of the cars because they enjoy driving it. Some of the best money I have ever spent.
