Default 2001 996 Delivery mode?

my car kills power to dome lights as soon as I take the key out of the ignition. Is there any way to fix this? I've read people say that it could be in delivery mode? Any way to get out of this mode? What's the point in some lights if they are shut off the second you take the key out of the Ignition. Any input is appreciated. Thanks

I have the same problem, let me know if you find an answer. I also have heard that it is in transportation mode and needs to be reprogramed by a Dealer, but I have been reluctant to bring it to the Dealer.

I have this same problem. I tried everything except going to the stealership. I have lived with it now for a year. Everything works when the key is in the ignition, until I take the key out, then none of the interior lights, frunk light, or engine lid light work. It use to bug me like crazy, now, I could care less. I am interested to see what you figure out though.

***My Indy here said transport/delivery mode didn’t come in until the 997, not sure if I believe him though***

I had some wierd electrical things going on, then one day my ignition lost its spring...
I replaced the ignition switch with an audi part, took about 45 minutes and some cursing.
Everything has been fine since.

Maybe this could be the problem??

my petrol door lock, inside dome lights, and inside door lights did not work as I opened the door or even when the car was running. The dome lights I could switch on manually at the dome but they should come on as you open the door engine running or not. I took mine to Porsche and they pulled it out of so called 'delivery mode' for $80

Great, thank you for the info. Now I'm wondering if I should take it to Porsche to have that done or if I should buy the correct cable to make the adjustment myself. We're the dome lights the only thing that changed? Did the car run any differently afterward?

There is really not much information to research on this issue. I believe Porsche engineered the "delivery or transport mode" because the cars are manufactured in Germany and will spend many months unattended in shipping and delivery to a dealer. Once they are at a dealer, the car is prepped for sale and one of the things they need to do is take the car out of delivery mode.

I also think that only a dealer can do this with the specialized Porsche software. A cable or Durametric will not check this or turn it off. Might be worth a phone call to your local dealer to inquire about getting it checked and cost.

Transit mode and sports car handover with PIWIS https://www.renntech.org/forums/topi...#comment-75744

A quote from Tool Pants on RennTech "After all these years your car may still be in the transit mode. Interior lights do not work unless the key is turned on to save the battery during shipment. With a new car the dealer with a PST2 was to take the car out of the transit mode and put it in the handover mode."

after my visit to Porsche, the car ran as normal. Dome, bottom of door lights, and locking petrol door, all normal.

When I get the chance I'll boot up my PIWIS and see where the setting is for you.

My last experience with the main dealership and coding an older car wasn't great. Better to go with the information at hand ill try and get some screenshots for you.

Sorry for the very late replyl

Okay so spent a bit of time going through each module, nothing under DME or Alarm that indicates "transport mode" or "energy saving mode". However I did find "Vehicle handover" under the additional menu:

Note the "Alarm system was activated" using this feature solved the problem hawlksfan#12 was having so thanks hawlksfan#12 for testing this!

Don't allow a dealer to charge you for doing this...

It really is dependent on the dealership if you are a client of theirs it's likely they will help you out.

If not you'll most likely be stung for an hours labour, same as an indy as well.
