Default Oil Test Results

I received my first test results today and all looks very good, but there are a few values that are high and wanted to see what others thing about these specific values. Overall it looks really good.

Boron looks high
Calcium looks high

Otherise, all values are well within normal and better in all cases except the above 2 areas.

If you check here
https://bobistheoilguy.com/engine-oil-analysis/

it says they are additives which can greatly vary in concentration depending on the oil brand you use.

I would conclude nothing to worry about.

Using the standard M1 10-50 weight. I just switched to the Driven and will be doing another test soon, probably target 3800 miles on the oil.

That's what I figured. It's a much better oil than the M1 0-40w and actually holds up on the track as well.

Test #2. A few things appear to jump a bit over the Mobil1 oil I replaced with the Driven. Assume that's okay given the comments but curious if anyone sees anything odd.

Base nothing from the first UOA after changing oils. You have cross pollination from the prior oil, and a bit of shock as well.

Until 2-3 services are done, you can’t gather any worthwhile comparative data from UOA.

Some of them do a sequence of tests between oil changes which can tell you more.

Iirc Cat used to do them regularly, now we just prefer to get clean oil and filter in.

How does that work if changing from XP9 to DT40 between track events? If I am going from one to the other every change or two, is there no way to get good results?

You can get good results if you have your own trend data.. That’s what counts, how your results compare to each other as time progresses. When you see a change, then that’s when a problem is noted.

I laugh when people get one sample and act like it’s meaningful... It’s just a snap shot that’s not meaningful at all.
