Well I have tracked down 2 new choices since the blue one Blew Up.
Car 1: 1999 996 C2, Black/Black, Supple leather, ALuminum gauges/ebrake/shifter, no traction, in dash CD, Aero kit. $43,120.00 25,000 MILES
Car 2: 1999 996 C2, Black/Black, Normal leather, Aluminum shifter, no traction, in dash CD, Aero kit. offered $40,000.00 $45,000 MILES
My gut feeling is to go with Car 1. But 3120 is a good difference.
Thoughts on the long term resale value? Etc.....

according to excellence magazine, average useage for a 911 is 6-9 thousand miles/yr. so, car 1 would be on the low side, and car 2 on the high side. assuming that car 1 is in good shape, it seems like a better buy than car 2, due to the 20k less miles. $3200 is a cheap price for 20k miles.

The 45,000 mile car seems overpriced in today's market. Even with inspection, you'd need to allow several thousand for anticipated expense within the next year. With all the threads discussing stored information, wouldn't we want to know the number of type 1 and 2 over-revs? If the car is thru a dealer, I'd be curious to know what the response to the information request might be. AS

Can that info be retrieved by the dealer without them going nuts? i.e. would the cooperate in getting that info?

Tim, I may be misunderstanding. "The guy with the 45K car wants 45K"- you mean he wants $40K, right? In this economy, walk away from any car until you get the deal you want. You won't get out of it well unless you get into it at the right price. There's always another car, and with winter around the corner, you won't be using it for 5-6 months, so why not wait to see what happens with the price of both, or the next one. And, there will be a next one. If you're willing to pay top price, there's always a car. Personally, I'd tell car number 2 to call me back when he's ready to take $36K. It easily costs 40cents a mile to own these cars. Important question is how long do you intend to keep it, and for how many miles? If you're going to put on a lot of miles (as I do) then you are better off with the higher mileage car, assuming correct purchase price, as high mileage at the sales end will kill resale. AS

Alex:
Yeah that is his asking price. I told him 40k. But I think I am going with #1 as the miles and options are good. Plus they are shipping it ($1300) etc.
In Denver I can expect to drive it most of the year but as it is my "fun" car it will not get that many miles. My Euro M5 got only 3800 miles on her last year.![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Thanks
