Default P-Zero's out of stock til January?

My rears are shot (duh) and I don't want to buy 4. Sucks. TireRack is out of stock on the matching rears. Would I be better off to go to Michelin Pilot Sports N1 on all fours (spending $400-$500 more than needed), and use the P-Zero fronts as extras for later? Fronts are in great shape, 9k miles total, rears are at wear bars and car needs state inspection.

Anyone here gone from P-Zero's to Michelin Pilot Sports and care to comment on their worth/value/advantages?

I had P-Zeros on my TT and I never liked them. I currently have Pilot sports on both my cars and love them.

Consider it divine intervention on tire selection. Rarely are the choices so clear. AS

I have Pilot Sports on my Carrera, and had them on my BMW 740i (although they've changed the tread pattern), and am very happy with them. I had Conti Sport Contact 2s on my last Carrera, and my E55 AMG, and didn't like them nearly as much. I'd go for the Pilot Sports.

The clarity of choice I referenced was in escaping the Pirelli's. When you buy 4 new tires, throw the Pirelli's away. You'll never put them on again. I have Conti's on my X50. The advantages are apparant long tread life (looking good at both ends at 12,000 miles), noise levels have not increased appreciably, and any decrease in total grip can't be felt in street driving at all. This is not to imply that track times might be different. My problem with previous Pilot Sports was much more noise as the miles built up. The driving characteristics were very good otherwise. AS

yes I agree.. it IS a blessing indisguise....

I have Bridgestone S02-A (N4 spec) and absolutely love them... the pilot sports are good as well. I find the S02-A's to perform slightly better (IMO)

I just took off the P-Zeros and put on Pirelli Wintersports. I can't believe how much quiter the tires are now!!! I'll be trying the Contis next summer I think.

Great! Now we got people comparing maximum performance summer tires with winter tires. The end is nearer than I thought...

As a rule of thumb, whenever you replace worn tires with any new tires, the newer ones are ALWAYS going to be quieter. ANY tire will get noisier as it wears down. A fair back to back noise comparison can only be made when both tires are, or close to, being new.
