I've been chatting with Jake for 15 years on the samba. I get that a m96 rebuild is a complete retooling of your toolbox from the air-cooled VW setup. But having been *****-deep on these boxer engines for a lifetime lends me to believe that tackling a rebuild isn't an impossibility for me.
The killer with these engines is the parts cost. But you do get what you pay for - esp with pushing these rotating masses past 500hp sitting 24" from us.
