Question Is there a problem with high milage 993Turbo engines?

Have been looking to 993 Turbo on the used market and have seen at least four 993 Turbo with over 140000Km/75000Ml with new or rebuild engines. I´m not looking for such high milage car, but this is something that´s really buging me. I´ve always heard these engines were bullet proof.

There are also alot of tuned cars with 430Hp, 450Hp to 500Hp, but I prefer to buy a stock car and than have it tuned.
Yesterday saw a Ruf 993 Turbo R with 520Hp at 57000 euros from 1996. This car makes 11,8sec to 200Kph/124Mph, it sure makes you wonder about reliability, but as soon as you put your "but" into the seat, your soul will be possessed by those 520 Turbo power HP

Hi Jose - there was a post here a while back about people reporting "high" mileage 993TTs and any issues they had. If you do a search you may find it. I do not think miles are the issue as much as how the miles were accumulated and what type of care the car has received. I would guess that a 993TT engine with 100,000 well cared for freeway miles on it would be healthier the same engine with 30,000 hard miles. In my experience, a lot of the lower mileage cars are often driven hard or not at all, whereas the higher mileage cars may just be daily drivers and receive good frequent routine maintenance. But really, each car has to be judged on its own merits.

When I was talking to Weissach in Vancouver about my car, they told me that they estimate a well cared for 993TT engine should last 130 - 150K and that a properly modified engine (such as a RUF Turbo R) should last over 100K.

Agree, zcat. It's funny sometimes to see people get all googly over a car with 18,000 miles, no paint chips, and an almost new interior and thinks it's worth a $20k premium and needs no PPI. When it could be that the car was only driven 10 times a year, all on the track, no paint chips because it was all taped up, and a new interior because nobody ever sat in the passenger seat.
