Default Has anyone bought from Sloan Cars in CT?

Hi

Very newbie here. I have read all the threads here and I am very grateful to all the regular posters for great info.

I may be in the market for a 96/97tt. I say maybe as I have not even driven the 996's yet but purely from a looks perspective the 996 does not do it for me at all. Probably not a good enough reason to write off the 996 yet. Anyway Sloan Cars has a 97tt with 22k miles for $77k. Also a local dealer in my town has a 96tt with 24k miles for $73500. These cars sound $$high to me but would like to hear from the experts here. Aslo where in CT are Sloan located as I also live in CT. Any thoughts opinions would be appreciated.

I should also mention I started my search about 3 days ago and I am trying very hard not to get ahead of myself!

Many Thanks
Brian

You should be able to find a 20000-30000 mile TT in the $65k-$70k range. No need to spend more.

Brian,

I tried a search on Sloan cars and turned up several threads. You might want to try this and see what you turn up. I have no personal dealings with them, but they seem to have some nice cars. I saw the silver TT you mentioned and it looked interesting. See if you can speak to the previous owner or current owner if it is on consignment and ask for service records if available.

FYI, I sold my '97 TT with 20K miles to a friend for $76,000 last October. I had updated the clutch, belts, etc. It was pristine. I might buy it back one of these days! Currently enjoying the GT3. Good luck in your search. The 993TT is a great car.

Brian,

Oldguy (screen name of a Rennlist member) just bought a 1996 TT from Richard Sloan. He talks a good story before the sale. Jury is still out on his after sale service based on a defective clutch. You may want to contact oldguy and get his take. He also has a pretty good perspective on the recent market for TTs, since he nearly drove all of us nuts with his relentless search.

Steve it is a 97 and I emailed brian already

I get it back Monday!!!! Check this out -I gave Family
Motors free reign on doing what was necessary while
the motor was out. Rear main seal, tranny seal turbo hoses,
spark plugs, anything I said that looks deficient, except
I insisted that the belts be changed. The mecahnic called me
today and said everything was very good inside. The only thing he
did was replace the belts(As ordered) and the clutch and components.
He could have done all that other stuff and I would not have complained.
they could have rung me up BIG TIME!
They get a gold star in my book.

Sheesh, OG, can you make that avatar any smaller? Sorry about thinking it was a 1996 when it is a 1997. I knew that. Sounds like you have found a decent place for your service. Who woulda thunk it of Bakersfield?

I'm still looking forward to a meet at Vasquez Rocks.

Did Sloan stand behind the clutch?

He said he was but I still dont have the mula! He said he was cutting a
check on Friday.
I was pretty Happy with Family motors in bakersfield
but I worry about a place that sells Porsche's and Hundai's at the same
dealership! Of course When I was looking awhile ago I was staring
at a 996 and I asked the salesman if I could sit in it. He said"
Sorry sir I am not allowed to touch these, I have to get the real
Porsche salesman" true story!!
Steve I stole that avatar from the rennlist ones. I need to get mine
done but my pics are too big. I forgot about you all that need
reading glasses to see stuff that small!!

Reading glasses, my ***. I have a friggin' electron microscope, and can barely make out that it's a Porsche of some kind.

Its probably a "good thing" that they don't let a Hyundai salesman touch a Porsche. They'd open that trunk, and call the police... the engine has been stolen!

Scott & I "may" be at Willow Springs on Sunday. Too bad you're still Porsche-less.
