Default Looking for TT (Have C4S)

Hello from the 993 board.

I need more power! What is a good price for a 96-98 TT (low mileage no more than 40K)?

Or does it make more sense to throw turbos into my C4S? I've no idea what this would entail or cost.

Any ideas, thoughts or comments would be welcome.

Thanks,
Sachin

Don't convert, unless you like to spend lots of money..

The turbo that you are looking for will proably be about $60-65K.... But let me ask you first, why do you need more power? The C4s has plenty, and if you set it up nicely with good suspension, I think you'll be very happy.

Point taken. The simple answer is, I'm not much of a DE guy (been to a couple, but just can't find the time). I'm more of a street guy and I get sick of getting smoked by Vettes and other such cars.

Don't get me wrong, I love the C4S and it handles better than any car I've ever been in, but I just need a bit more power.

Playing in the streets with a 993 Turbo is, well, likely to void your life insurance policy.

Converting to a turbo engine will cost around $50K with a factory crate engine and professional labour. Not for the faint of heart.

It will cost about $20 to $30K to get out of C4S into a Turbo of equivalent condition.

Do it. You only live once and everyone should "do the Turbo thing" once in their life just to experience it.

Sachin,

It sounds like you haven't actually experienced driving a TT FIRST HAND. Do that, before you make your decision. I believe that after a whiff of the power of the TT, you will be a lost soul, and won't rest until you've swapped cars (do not convert... no resale value and way too expensive). But you owe it to yourself to do some serious test driving first. See if there is a local Rennlister who will give you a test drive.

Thanks guys. I gotta find a TT first. Did got the local Porsche stealer, and they did not have one. Tried to talk me into getting an 01 with 17K miles for 50K+ my car. I told them to call me when they had a 993 TT.

Paitience is not one of my virtues.

Adsc4s,

I'm always up for swapping test drives with other good Porsche drivers. But especially if a guy is considering a 993, and has never driven a TT, I would encourage him to get a test drive, even in my car!

See you soon on another Malibu cruise?

Steve OFE,

I am patiently waiting for the next one. I know a few guys are inching to drive!

See you soon.

While I don't know what the resale impact would be, Weissach will do a RUF turbo conversion for around 30K. I don't know how that experience compares to a TT, but it sounds like fun.

Thanks for the suggestion. I contact them and they stated that they do not offer a conversion for NA cars.

I called them about 2 weeks ago and they gave me the whole rundown and prices on the conversion. Told me it would take 10 days to complete. You did say 993, right?
