Thinking to sell
I'm thinking to sell my 96 turbo after very little participation in the last two years with racing. I've had her for nearly 12 years and turned her into full pca J class race car. Now with values going up and race insurance so expensive ($7k+ roughly for a year) it just doesn't make sense to pay that for one or two races per year. So what to do? Sell as is or try to go back to street car? I think selling as is might works best. Any comments on what to ask if I go that route? I put a little pdf together on the details. Thanks for any thoughts on a price or other ideas. Darren

Red 54k mile bone stock would be $135-175k
J class racer, would be anybodies guess.
The amount of time to turn it back to stock would be pain in the *** but doable.
Need to find the right buyer. Somebody looking for J car for racing or track toy.
Other then that you will find those looking to return it to stock given the clean body but at the right price.
Such a fun car. I was looking for this in 2009 for targa newfoundland!

This nice red one with a few more miles (73k) has been relisted repeatedly for a long time and can't ever make it much past about $110k lately. I would think a car with race history might negate the lower miles and push the sales price down a bit, since it's probably been run hard? Not sure.

And yeah, definitely return it to stock if you want top dollar, it will be worth it.

Agree its hard to say what to ask for it as is. One thing on race cars, some times they are better taken care of than street cars. Not in cosmetics but with mechanical bits. I spent over 20k in the last two years on full engine and gearbox rebuilds. Best to have everything in order when rolling around road america at 155mph down the front straight!

As others have stated, return back to stock as much as possible if your serious about selling, otherwise be prepared to have this priced significantly lower IMO.
And yes, although one can argue tracked cars are better maintained, at the same time people thoughts are their could be a list of other components that are highly stressed vs a street car.
Good luck!
