Default Black vs Metallic Black

Wanted a black 993 tt with low miles and have come across a 993 tt in Metallic Black. Car is in a different city; therefore, can not see in person. The color of Metallic black look bronze or gold in certain light, is that true?

Also, would anyone have a photo of black vs metallic black side by side to show difference. Cannot find one within the search function.

Not sure if I like this color after seeing photos, any feedback from people who have seen in person.

Thanks

Looks more like a very dark grey in certain light. I am a big fan of metallic black.

I have a Metallic Black TTS and love it. In the dark, it looks just black. In the sun, the metallic does make it look something other than black. I don't know if I'd call it bronze undertone, but it is something that is off of the grey-black spectrum. Here are the best pics of my car on RL:

I just found a picture of my metallic black 993 next to a ordinary black 964 I used to own:

The Black Metallic has taupe flecks which can look brownish in some light. It does not show dust as much as the ordinary 'er, non-metallic black. It's my favourite black but then I prefer Ocean Blue to Riviera Blue. Also, Black Metallic is much faster in stock form.

the trouble with metallic black is that although it looks great with it's charcoal hue, it can also be percieved as dusty or dirty under certain lighting...
But i wouldnt say no to one

I think it's a complete stalemate

Each have their own advantages and disadvantages

A black car needs to be absolutely perfect to look okay in direct sunlight. Metallic is more forgiving in that regard

Metallic is very very very difficult to touch up. There is no way you can apply touch up to a metallic black car that will perfectly align the flakes up like they were sprayed on initially. Whereas a black car with no metallic flake is much easier to touch up without it being seen as a blemish.

they both look incredible on a 993 (especially considering the road protection underside all around is black).
I wouldn't hesitate one way or the other

Having had both side by side for many years, I can say that metallic black is far easier to maintain in the sense that waxing and washing is much more forgiving on metallic black. I used to wash both on the same day and the black one would show everything and require tons of time to get looking good. The metallic one comes out looking great with less effort.

On the other hand, it is true that touch-up paint on a black car is easy but not as easy on metallic black. It is also true that even when the metallic black car is perfectly clean, it can look dusty in bright sunlight.

In the garage or at night, it is hard to tell the difference from more than a couple of feet away. During daylight, especially in bright sun, you can tell from 20 feet away. Even then, if one passed you on the highway, you probably wouldn't notice the difference.
