Default Best year for 993TT?

Some people say the '97 is the most desirable year.. Some people say to stay away from the '95 - '96 cars.. Some people say, they are all the same.. Does anyone have a solid opinion on this?

'97 is considered most desirable because it was the last MY of production and there are fewer of them than '96s. Don't think there were any '95s.

1997 TTs have a few subtle improvements over the 1996 cars (yes no 1995s, at least in the USA).
1. slightly stronger transmission input shaft.
2. programmable ECU
3. quieter brake booster pump
4. better boost hoses
5. clutch pedal interlock (must depress clutch for starting... most people hate this "improvement")
6. a light over the ignition switch
7. probably a few others that I forgot.
Most of these changes (except #1... $$$) can be easily incorporated into the 1996 cars, if you care.

I'd say 97 is technically speaking the best year. My car was sold as a MY 96 but the build date shows 1995. I'll make some comments, my car is rocking the original boost hoses, I drive the **** out of it most of the time and I've taken the intercooler off too many times to tell, never had an issue with my hoses! The previous owner tracked the **** out of my car at Laguna before I purchased it. He actually showed me a video of the car spinning at the track in some gravel just after I bought it Anyway, never had any issues with the input shaft noise or anything like that, but then I don't launch the car from a stop or drag race it. I plan on retrofitting the key light in my car it's an easy DIY documented on here. I had never owned a Porsche before and that truly is BS not being able to see where to put the key at night. Never knew about the quieter brake booster, but now that you mention it, it does sound a bit noisy but only for the first 30 seconds when you key on or start it up for the day. Good luck with your search, my car has been very reliable.

Simple. The best 993 Turbos are 1996 and 1997.

And Arena Red. Or white. Or Speed Yelllow. Or even .......

You can't beat a 993 TT. Though I prefer the 97 because it is the last of the last real turbo Porsche

Only ROW had 1998 993TTs. Seriously, OP, I think you might be new at selling Pcars but all of your questions are here with a quick search.

The best year is the year of the one you own. Really no need to over think it.

That was my play on his statement of "which one to stay away from". A 993TT???? There's not really any (other than abused/neglected ones) that are "bad". And those can be resurrected. Get one and enjoy the hell out of it.
