A correct alternative to what you were using I think - it's thicker.

Motul 7100 4T available? I would use that if possible.

5100 and 7100 are specifically designed to be low in zinc. Zinc helps lubrication but may hurt cats quicker. Motul's 300V competition 15w-50 has more zinc so you might look for that. I'm not sure how critical zinc is but everybody heralds it for engine protection 5100 and 7100 do have phosphorus too which is good . . . I'm not an expert but Motul is high end oil. When I switched to 20w, oil stopped slipping by places it shouldn't.

It's interesting in such a HOT climate 20w-50 is NOT more readily available.

Okay I just got in touch with a dealer. He has 7 quarts of Mobil V Twin. He's suggesting to mix it with 4 quarts of Castrol V Twin 20w50. Is this a better idea?

IMHO I think it would be okay. I can't comment from knowledge or experience on blending oils like that.

Castrol Power RS V-Twin 20W-40 and 20W-50 (min Zn = 0.12 = 1200 ppm)

Don't overfill!

With regards to the zinc/zddp levels so much talked about it's because it has flat tappets most cars don't have. Here's some flat tappet talk mentioning zddp

Thanks Pib933 you have been a great help. I will mix the oil. Atleast they are 20W. Since both are designed for V Twins I bet they have similar thermal properties
