Default 993tt racecar at VIR June 21 04

Then there is this bold soul who is taking your theme to it's logical extreme and racing his tt wheel-to-wheel (J stock) with the GTs and cup cars. Outclassed (or under-driven?) in the 2:11 range, but still, hat's off for style!

Rick nice "993"!

To tell you the truth I've had my share of mishaps looking in the rear view mirror. Last year or the year before, a viper got sideways behind me in turn 1 (after the straight in the vid), I got a glimpse of it in my mirror, long enough for me to miss my turn in slightly into turn 2 (up hill), got unsettled enough to not make turn 3 at the top of the hill.. The viper driver got a good video of me making some rooster tails in the dirt - I knew not to try to save things but couldn't stop myself...

I'd try some racing for fun if I had the time. Maybe when I retire

Basal,

Nice run, track reminds me a lot of Calabogie motorsports in Ontario. with the blind corners and good elevation changes.http://www.calabogiemotorsports.com/

Too funny how the tibby and I think acura scattered like roaches in the light when you arrived in their mirror.

Rob, followed your link to the calabogie site, that looks like a great facility. Looked at some of the vids on the site, looks very technical. Lot of trees though but I suspect important ones are gone!

The cars in front of me self destruct at times, I try to back off unless I know the driver and know they want to play. The turn workers are pretty good at blue flagging drivers.

Calabogie is very technical. I've only been a couple of times as it's a long tow for me, but a good time.

Here's a short one. Can't really load the whole thing and don't have it on utube

See if this works, not the fastest lap but still lots of fun.

Great thread start Basal Skull. I didn't mean to get everyone down with my "valuation/reality sets-in" thread. But to join in on a much more fun thread here is two pics of me at Willow Springs earlier this year. Not the greatest photos and had to Use Blue Painters tape as my Paintshield 5720 Gallon was being held hostage in MI as it can't ship when temps are below freezing. Was still a blast as weather was upper 60's in January with no wind...getting no wind at Willow makes for a special day all in itself.

Here's another. Again, I only drive about 75-80%, still a little apprehensive about taking it closer to the edge. I now have much better tires and a few more tricks (mods) up my sleeve. Hope to vastly improve when I get back.

Your thread was valuable in assisting others in trying to make an informed decision. That's what RL is all about, helping those that may need it and sharing in our love for these cars. Mahalo. Nui Loa

+1 for what Boosted said.
nothing wrong with painters tape, it works! I'd like to drive Willow springs one day.

Boosted, nice vids, that's with Harry's lap timer? looks pretty good. I tried to use a early version (not Harry's) at one point but couldn't find a good enough iPhone mount that I had any confidence in. That looks like a fun track, would like to come down to drive it one day too.

This is about what I have. Not sure on the brand. Maybe about 25 bucks. The suction cup is pretty stout and the flexible arm is pretty stiff also. Wedge the phone against the windshield between the center of the dash above tach. Takes a few times to get it tight enough. Usually have it wedged in and then barely able to move the camera to where it needs to point. Then it'll stay. If you point the camera first and then tighten it up, it will loosen up on the track. Affirm on Harrys. I know there's some better set ups GPS wise, but it's simple and close enough for me.
