Default My RUF 18's... what spacers to use. pics inside

I am getting my calipers back on Friday and my tires are being mounted tomorrow. I have a few questions on what spacers I need.

Info:
- Current rear H&R spacer on car is 14mm (approx.)
- Spacers that came with RUF wheels (from PO) are 35mm
- Offsets: Rear - 18x10 ET66
Front - 18x8.5 ET58
- Tires Continental Extreme Contact DW 285/30 and 225/40.

The fronts seem to look good with no spacer... but of course the car is on the lift and there is no rubber yet on the wheels so kind of hard to tell.

I figured with RUF wheels being around for so long that this question would have been answered before.

So, do I keep the 14mm spacers and add the 35mm? 49mm seems like a lot with a offset of 66.

Any help is appreciated. Please I am not looking for opinions but rather people who have had these before on a turbo and know what to use. Thanks for all the help in advance!!

Cheers,
Bryan

Bryan, if I read it correctly I would not stack two spacers. Find exactly what thickness you need with one spacer. I think all 18" RUF wheels are for narrow body fitment and then need spacers for wide bodies. Call RUF at 248)304-9091 or 888)783-8721. Sorry I couldn't help any further.

I think 19 inch Rufs look much better on a Turbo. I'll take those 18's off of your hands to save you the trouble of looking for a buyer

Yes, I will not use both spacers.. just trying to find out what is needed. I am happy to call RUF in the morning. That will help.. hoepfully they are not just familiar with new applications and can tell me what is needed.

I am hoping from the board we can see what people have done and have actual sizes used as the RUF measurements may be on the conservative side.

Thanks,
Bryan

I believe RL Overdraft use to have RUFs 18s on his black TT lowered with PSS10s, maybe PM him what spacers etc were used.

Here is the info you are looking for. I sold the PO of Overdraft's car the Rufs that are on it now and these pics were taken in my driveway after we installed the wheels. I wish I never sold those wheels now!!!!

I have the same wheel set up. 38mm in the rear and 6mm in the front.

Where did you get the 6mm spacers up front? Were you still able to engage the tabs for hub-centric fitment? I've heard they have spacers out there with ears so to speak that accentuate the tabs or allow the new wheel to engage them with what's left of the existing tabs once the spacers are added.

These cars are very sensitive in the front so trying to ensure I get it right the first time.

Thanks,
Bryan

Thanks again everyone.

Question, if I run a 6 or 7mm spacer up front will I need to replace my studs? I want to ensure I still get enough coverage on the lug nut so I don't weaken the connection of the wheel to the car.

Onami, I didn't find that much information in your thread other than the rear spacers which I was able to find out. It didn't mention anything about the front measurement, just the vibration issue. I looked but didn't respond. Sorry as I didn't mean to offend you.

Regards,
Bryan

Most don't run a front spacer, but some have had a rubbing issue. Search "front ruf wheel rubbing" and you should find a few threads on it with all of the details. I would try them without a spacer on the front and check for rubbing - I had none on mine. I prefer not to use spacers unless I have to.

Default Longer studs?

Your pic looks like longer studs are installed with a slide on spacer? If so you'll need to cut studs & bolt on larger spacer, you should wind up at 35et on 10'' rear & 45et 8'' front with those tires. IMO

Onami, thank you!

rare911s, I do have longer studs but with the RUF wheels they do disappear into the holes in the RUF wheels when installed. The thing I don't like is with the spacers that came with the car they are open (not closed all the way around) where the lug nuts hold them on so when you look through the wheel you can see that gap. Doesn't look good to me. Anyone know of 35mm spacers that are closed? These will work from now but just me being a perfectionist I guess... or ****. One of those answers will suffice.

Thanks,
Bryan
