Default Clock to Boost Gauge Conversion

After the FVD tune, my car is supposedly hitting between 1.0 and 1.1 bar. But of course the stock computer or display maxes out at .8 bar, and I never liked the location or jumpiness (word?) of the digital display.

After searching around the intertron and RL in particular, I contacted WSM in Germany and shipped them my clock for an analog boost gauge conversion. Having replaced the gauge faces with FVD red faces, I was nervous that they would not match, but the picture looks pretty solid. The gauge should ship tomorrow or Monday. I can't wait to get this into the car.

Those look great and retain the original warning lights. I went a simpler route. Original clock is still connected and safely tucked inside dash. Having a real boost gauge is nice. I sourced mine through North Hollywood Speedometer.

I originally contacted North Hollywood Spedometer, but they told me they were no longer performing this service. Jurgen Wilhelm at WSM has been a pleasure to deal with so far.

The link to the boost gauge conversion is here: http://wsm.de/produkte/33/Porsche/59/911.html

What???? They no longer sell a 930 turbo clock boost gauge...that doesn't seem right but mine is a year old now so maybe it is true.

It's also still on their website. http://www.nhspeedometer.com/911/custom_design/1.htm

Is the WSM product an electrical gauge with a sending unit or mechanical where you need to run the hose up to the dash? From that page on the NHS site, it kind of looks like theirs is electrical (they show what looks like a sending unit)

I should have clarified. They still sell a boost gauge. They used to do the clock to gauge conversion, which would show the warning lights. The conversion of the existing clock is what they are no longer doing.

dbf73, I believe that it is electrical.

It's a traditional boost gauge that you T into a boost reference line. It's not electrical but does have a light. For pre-993 cars it includes a hose to t into the brake booster. that doesn't work for us 993tt folks.

Any info on how to install this puppy? Where and what type of 4.5 mm ID hose to use, how to route it, etc?

First off, where'd ya get it and how much may I ask?
Second, I'd run a pretty stout nylon tube and then use rubber at each end to tie in. The routing should be pretty straight forward. Just protect (grommets, sleeves, clamps etc) the line as it's routed. Good luck.

Like the OP I got it from WSM in Germany. 800 euros plus shipping and core. Don't insure the clock you send to Germany or there will be extra taxes.
