Default What's a 993 TT Engine with 30K miles worth?

Ran across what appears to be a good deal on a complete 993 TT engine. It has 30,000 miles. The asking price is $8800. It's in Europe so I will pay shipping of approximately $600 by sea.

Includes:

993 3.6 Twin Turbo Complete Running Engine
Wiring Harness
Brain (their words)
Fuel Pump

I'm buying for a future lightweight project. I'd like to build a lightweight (approx 2500 lb air cooled) on a 993 or widened 964 body.

Question is what's an engine like this worth?

I would use Escrow.com or equivalent to minimize the risk.

I'd say that's a swinging deal if it is USD. I'd think 15K-20K is what a good(healthy), complete 993tt engine is worth.

Sounds good, maybe to good to be true. Almost $10k is a big gamble in my mind. Especially being an overseas deal. If it's from an individual I would be wary. A reputable company may be alright. If it's good and received as represented, then you scored. If not you're screwed. Sorry, I have major trust issues. Good luck

LA DISt won't budge from it's $28k for a S low mile 993TT engine, with 9k$ more for it's trans. So your asking for grief with that euro deal.

Like others said....run away!!

Van Zweeden in Netherlands will however sell you one for 15k eur, which is about 21k USD.
They list the engine as an exchange part but they will let it go for that price without an exchange motor. I know because i almost pulled the trigger on it before I found the EVO engine.

If a 30,000 mile car is worth mid $70ish, than the engine got's to be worth $25-30K of that.

But the Netherlands TT eng lacks $$$brain and $$$wiring; unknown mileage, plus shipping and it's not such a good deal.

Very true! I wouldn't have needed the ECU since i have Motec. But that gives you an idea of what these engines change hands with.
