I fitted the Misano as they were/are the lightest quality recliner on the market. They are a tight fit and a bit of chopping needs to be done to get them in but once in they work fine.
They are well made, to be critical I would say the leather is not the best.

what type of chopping - to the seat, mounting rails or the car itself?

To the seat, I think at the side a rod which holds the backrest protrudes a bit too far and snags the central tunnel, it is no biggie

Fair price with heat...probably $5k nowadays. $8k is probably what they could be going for though if black and in excellent shape. Again I am completely baffled as to why they are soo expensive. The option code will show up is anyone run the ViN w/Porsche an thus I wouldn't think if the car didn't originally come with them that it would be even worth and extra 5-8k for non original equipped sport seats. However I could be way off base.

Personally for me they are just not very supportive. The 996tt sport seat is the same. 997 sport seats on the other and seem to be quite supportive especially ones with Alcantera center sections. Again just my opinions for my body type.

Chad were you able to switch the interior color to black as you originally wanted?
If not I've seen some 996 GT3 seats in grey which are pretty hot !They are both supportive and great bolsters ala Pole positions, maybe tight for daily driver . I have a set in black and anticipate
installing them in my '95 993 RS look ...soon as it comes from Ed's, Bert

Just reread your post and I guess fixed back are out of the question,I imagine the 997 GT3 RS is the
best bet...Bert

Yes it is black. Ed did it about a year ago.

I can tell you that the 997 GT3 sport seats in my car are exceptional, perhaps the best seat I've ever sat in. Mine are the manual adjust with alcantera centers, if you can find a set you will not be disappointed. Steve

I saw these recently in a 911 at a concours and my jaw dropped. They looked really good and they are fairly inexpensive :http://www.sparcousa.com/product/chrono-road

Yes, its a type of fabric, from a distance they looked like they were leather, but upclose you can see the fabric.

another option, that I personally really favour in terms of looks, period correctness and functionality are these: A bit more expensive though...

The guy that sells them is a real enthusiast, a Rennlister out of Vancouver in BC and he drives a 993 C4S. I sat in them, really really nice in terms of quality and fit...
