I paid $1,500 for one like 4 years ago. I imagine the market is about the same ish.

wow...kevin at umw told me years ago they were very valuable (several thousand) and in high demand.

sounds like you got a smokin' deal...:-)

iirc i sold my regular stock ecu for more than that.

well, you can get a decent aftermarket tune that is likely superior to the S programming for about $2k-$2500, so the 993TTS ecu shouldn't really be more.

I sold my stocker for like $700

Will aftermarket ECU's function correctly with all the scanning tools (P codes) be it durametric or Porsche factory scan tools? Do they work okay for emissions?

My mech seemed to complain I didn't have the stock Motronic in my car. But a new ecu one from Pelican is supposedly $6000+ if there is stock left in Germany. I got the impression anyway that the stock ecu's were limited quantities so worth more but maybe that's because I lack one.

When you say "aftermarket ECU", I will assume you mean a stock ECU with aftermarket programming? That should work fine with all the scan tools... the diagnostic chip is separate from the main chip. Protomotive recently repaired my Ruf ECU which had the incorrect diagnostic programming. He is a genius with these things.

As far as msw, the resale value of a factory stock Turbo S ECU should be closer to $3000. I base that figure on absolutely nothing but my gut feel. 1997+ ECU are highly desired by 1996 TT owners because they are more programmable, and a stock S might be worth a bit more to an S owner to have as a spare.

don't see ecu's for sale much recently. My gut would agree with Steve if not a little more. I can't remember how much I paid for my ecu's, I have some sort of memory problem when it comes to money I spend on my car. I currently have 4 ecu's and they are not for sale.

Ryojo,
4 is just plain greedy
What are they all set up for, and what are you planning?

I have 2, the oem ROW turbo S 450ps ECU from Porsche which is in my car, and a modified 96 ECU which has a tune on it that is a mystery to me. The 96 ECU has the piggy back memory board from EVC.de and I have posted about it before.

Interesting, I've been thinking of selling my UMW stage 1 ecu that I never installed on my 97 TTS, let me know if anyone is interested.

I'd like a turbo S ECU for my 97 993TT. 30 more HP!! Not sure why or if I'll even feel it.

The US Turbo S ECU is not the same as the European version, right?

US Turbo S = K16s and 424 SAE bhp
ROW 430 upgrade = K16s and 430 DIN hp
ROW Turbo S = K24s and 450 DIN hp

The US Turbo S is more like the ROW 430 upgrade in terms of performance then?
